Outdoor Activities - 365 Days a Year: Penticton offers a wide variety of outdoor activities all year round. Wine Capital of Canada: Penticton is located in the south Okanagan Valley which is also famous for its delicious wines. Indeed, the stretch of vineyards known as the "Golden Mile" south of Penticton produces numerous international award-winning wines. The Okanagan Valley is the oldest grape growing region in British Columbia, and there are wine festivals in the spring, summer, fall, and winter throughout the valley. There are over 140 wineries located in the Okanagan Valley (over 90 in the south Okanagan Valley) and the number is increasing every year. Many wineries are open all year round, and visitors are welcome to come and taste their wide variety of wines.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetables: Both Penticton and the greater Okanagan Valley are also very well known for their fresh fruit and vegetables. From June to October visitors can have the chance to eat locally grown cherries, apricots, nectarines, plums, peaches, pears, strawberries, and apples. There are also numerous vegetable farms which produce tomatoes, corn, squash, zucchini, green peppers, eggplant, potatoes, cucumbers, artichokes, beets, and so on. From April to October, Penticton has a Farmers Market on Saturdays where local farmers and artisans sell their produce and crafts. Visitors also have the unique opportunity to go and pick their own fruit and vegetables at nearby farms in Penticton.

Easy Access to...: If you are keen to travel and explore a larger city, from Penticton it is only about a 1 hour flight to both Vancouver and Calgary. A 1 hour drive north of Penticton is Kelowna - the largest city in the Okanagan Valley with a population of 110,000 - which offers plenty of shopping, wineries, fine dining, and year round outdoor activities. Kelowna is the hub of the Okanagan Valley and one of the fastest growing cities in Canada. With its expanded international airport, there are now direct flights to the United States, Mexico, and Europe.
