In mid-July the kids & I took a trip to Powell River to visit my sister & brother-in-law. It was a great trip and we had a lot of fun catching crab, fishing, swimming, walking the beach, visiting relatives, and enjoying the picturesque scenery of the west coast (so different from the south Okanagan).
This year is also the 100th anniversary of the Patrick Family’s arrival in Canada. My grandma & grandpa settled in Powell River in 1911, and there is a road named after them as well (one of the photos has the kids standing in front of the sign). My grandparents came across on the Royal Edward Titanic Ships from England and after arriving in Vancouver they made their way by boat with all of their possessions to begin a new life in Powell River.
