Matthew and I went to Wenatchee, Washington for a soccer tournament in early August. We left Penticton in the morning at 6am and arrived at the Grand Coulee Dam at about 10:30am. It was a hot, gorgeous day and the scenery was incredible, especially between Bridgeport & Grand Coulee – vast, vast stretches of desert and it felt like we were driving on the moon! The dam was breathtaking (for guys, I guess!) and we had a great time exploring the place. We could not get over the size of the dam (see the cars below on GrandCouleeDam5and the 2 buses above on GrandCouleeDam7). We had a quick early lunch and then headed south along Banks Lake & then west back to Highway 97 and then south again to Wenatchee. Banks Lake was full of the stunning flat top mountains so famous in the Western movies and then when we moved west we suddenly hit rolling wheat fields which took us completely by surprise! We arrived in Wenatchee at 1pm and then headed to the soccer field.
