On Wednesday, April 20 Atsuko taught a Japanese cooking class at Home Hardware in Osoyoos. This cooking class was a very special event because it was co-hosted by Walter Gehringer of Gehringer Brothers Estate Winery in Oliver. While Atsuko taught the class how to make miso soup, rolled sushi, and tempura Walter Gehringer paired the different Japanese dishes with his estate’s award-winning wines. The cooking class was part of a series of cooking classes hosted by Home Hardware and the classes have been a very popular event in Osoyoos for many years. Close to 35 attended the class, and everyone had a great time tasting Atsuko’s homemade Japanese food and sampling and learning about the excellent wines provided by Walter Gehringer.
