On December 14 the Salvation Army Penticton volunteers gathered inside the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre to begin the annual Christmas Hamper Pack. Truckloads of fresh and canned food purchased by the Penticton Salvation Army were brought inside the Convention Centre, unloaded, and then repacked to make Christmas Hampers for the less fortunate in the community. This year saw a record number of Penticton families apply for the hampers. Last year over 700 families applied but in 2010 approximately 825 families put in their applications. The Penticton Salvation Army volunteers will work Tuesday through Friday to make sure every family has the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful Christmas dinner which so many of us take for granted.
