December 2010 – Christmas Hamper Distribution

Well, the day finally arrived! On December 17 a huge team of Salvation Army staff and volunteers descended on the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre to hand out the Christmas hampers. The entire process lasted from 9am until about 2:30pm and all in all everything went very smoothly. There was a very long lineup throughout the day but everyone who signed up managed to walk away with a large box full of delicious Christmas dinner delights. Volunteers were on hand to pack the boxes, record the hamper receivers, hand over the boxes, carry boxes to cars, and even drive those who lacked transportation. Local politicians such as Mayor Dan Ashton, MLA Bill Barisoff, City Councillor Dan Albas, and MP Stockwell Day were in attendance to help out too. The recipients were very grateful for the food received and the volunteers worked hard to make sure everyone in line will have a very enjoyable Christmas feast this year.
